About Us
Redefining Ultrasonic Sensing
Ultracoustics Technologies Ltd. is an Edmonton-based deep tech company building BROADSONIC — the widest bandwidth air-coupled ultrasonic sensor commercially available.
Our Mission
Hear What Other Sensors Can't
We build sensing tools that let engineers, scientists, and operators observe ultrasonic phenomena that were previously invisible — from micro-scale gas leaks to megasonic cavitation, from partial discharge to non-contact NDT.
Our all-optical, air-coupled sensor architecture removes the bandwidth, size, and interference limitations of conventional ultrasonic instruments, opening up applications that piezoelectric transducers simply cannot address.

Our Story
From Lab to Market
Ultracoustics was founded to commercialize a new class of optical ultrasonic sensor developed at the University of Alberta — a Fabry-Perot cavity approach that finally solves the bandwidth-versus-sensitivity trade-off that has held back air-coupled ultrasonics for decades.
What started as a research programme in integrated optics is now a product platform serving customers in semiconductor manufacturing, non-destructive testing, gas leak detection, high-voltage asset monitoring, and ultrasonic cleaning.
We work closely with industry partners to co-develop deployments, and with academic collaborators to keep pushing the fundamental science forward. Every BROADSONIC sensor shipped is a product of that shared work.
